Favorite Family Friendly RESTAURANTS in OKC

Posted in Family Photography, OKC resources by Charis Elisabeth

TI’m a mom of three young kids, which means I’m always on the lookout for family friendly restaurants in OKC recommendations. Finding a place that everyone enjoys and that makes eating out feel a little less stressful is always a win for us.

We especially love spots with outdoor seating. Something about being outdoors makes me not feel quite as on edge as a mom if my kids are loud, plus usually they can move around and get the wiggles out a little easier. And of course good food that works for both kids and adults is always a must.

I’m excited to share some of our favorite places where you can bring your kids and know they are welcome to be there.

Oklahoma City Kid Friendly Restaurant Spots

The Ice House Project

📍 Edmond, OK
Website: The Ice House Project

The Ice House Project in Edmond is one of those spots that just works well for families. Several restaurants surround a central courtyard, which creates a relaxed outdoor dining space where kids can move around and play while you eat. Tacos, Burgers and Pizza options allow for food choices for everyone! Most of the restaurants are closed on Mondays though the Taco Place does cheap kids meals on Monday evenings.

Meddys

📍 Oklahoma City & Moore

Meddys serves delicious Lebanese style food and is one of our favorite spots a quick, budget friendly meal. The real win for families is the kids meal deal. When dining in, kids meals are just $1.99. They do have outdoor seating options as well.

Pryor’s Pizza at Selah

📍 Selah Neighborhood (just south of Oklahoma City)
Website: Pryors Pizza

Good food, good vibes, and a place for your kids to run and play. This family friendly restaurant checks every box and probably tops the list as our favorite. Located in the beautiful Selah neighborhood, Pryor’s Pizza offers a relaxed atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a fully fenced playground where kids can play while you enjoy your meal. Great food and setting.

Taco Nation at Wheeler District

📍 Wheeler District, Oklahoma City
Website: Taco Nation

Taco Nation is another great stop for families. Just outside the restaurant is an enclosed play area where kids can run and have fun while you finish your tacos. The Wheeler District itself is a fun area to explore, so it can easily turn into a full evening outing and a great place to meet up with friends.

Spark

📍 Multiple locations

Spark is one of our favorite spots for burgers and fries. If you have gluten free needs, they are also fantastic about accommodating that. Many Spark locations are near parks or outdoor areas where kids can play. Our favorite location is at Chisholm Creek (just do be aware there is easy access to the water so don’t let little ones run on their own), but the downtown location in Scissortail Park is also great for families. All locations have outdoor play options.

Royal Bavaria

📍 Norman, OK

If you enjoy authentic German food, Royal Bavaria is worth the drive to Norman. Think beer, pretzels, schnitzel, and a large outdoor area where kids have room to move. The relaxed outdoor space makes it surprisingly family friendly for a place that also feels like a fun spot for adults.

Brickopolis

📍 Bricktown, Oklahoma City

Brickopolis is a full evening of fun in one place. Arcade games, mini golf, and other activities, there is plenty to keep kids (and adults!) entertained. It is a great choice when you want dinner plus something fun to do as a family.

he Hall’s Kitchen

📍 Oklahoma City
Website: The Halls Kitchen

The Hall’s Kitchen offers a rooftop dining experience that is welcoming for families. We love their pizza choices and it’s a great choice for all.

Chicken N Pickle

📍 Oklahoma City

Whether you love pickleball or just want a fun place to eat and hang out, Chicken N Pickle is a great family stop. There is a rooftop patio, a central yard with games, and pickleball courts for active fun. The menu includes favorites like fried pickles and smoked wings, while kids can keep it simple with grilled cheese and fries.

Pops and The Chicken Shack

📍 Arcadia, OK

If you are up for a quick road trip, head east of Oklahoma City to Arcadia. Pops is a classic Route 66 stop that we all always find fascinating, with soda pop in more flavors than you can imagine. The giant soda bottle outside is a great photo opp spot.

Just down the road is The Chicken Shack, known for famous Oklahoma fried chicken and a huge outdoor space with playgrounds and room to run.

Hideaway Pizza

📍 Multiple locations

Hideaway Pizza is an Oklahoma classic and a reliable favorite for families. The pizza is fantastic, the atmosphere is relaxed, and there are locations all around the metro.

One More Reason I Love Places Like These

As an Oklahoma City family photographer, I encourage families to plan something fun to celebrate with after their family photos and these restaurants are a great place to do that! From super budget friendly like Meddys to a bit extra special like Pryor’s Pizza there should be a choice for everyone!
