Here’s How A Lifestyle Photography Session Works
01 We’ll get to know each other
When you are ready to discuss a lifestyle photography session, you can fill out a session inquiry form on my contact page. I will do my best to respond within 24 hours (both by email and with a quick text) with some basic info and details. I’ll send a booking link with agreement and invoice. After you finish these your session will be booked!
02 Preparing for your session
Soon after your session is booked, I’ll send over some resources to help you start preparing for your session. This will include a detailed session guide, a styling guide, and exclusive access to a premium online styling service. My clients find this styling service really valuable as they plan for outfits.
You’ll have my phone number and I’ll be available anytime to give my opinion/advice on outfits and color combos. I love when clients feel comfortable communicating with me before a session with questions or ideas they have.
A few days before your session, I’ll check in to make sure everything is coming together and that we’re on the same page for your session location and details.
03 The Day of the Session
Yay! It’s the day of your session! I always advise to do your best to stay relaxed and keep the pressure low for your family. Make sure your kids (and husband) are well fed before the session time. I’ll text you when I arrive at your home and you can let me know when you are ready for me to come in.
When I arrive, I’ll spend some time getting acquainted with your family and making sure we feel relaxed. We’ll identify the best locations in your home for photos (I may move some things around) and start the fun.
A lifestyle photo session means that I will be working to get your family to interact and have fun together. I’ll give directions for positions, ask for lots of hugs, kisses, tickle fights, and snuggles. If you have favorite activities, books, or toys we can definitely incorporate those into your session as well.
A session typically takes 60-90 minutes, which leaves enough time for snacks, coffee refills, and multiple mood swings. 😂 Remember, your ordinary is full of magic and we are here to capture it all – the joy, the chaos, the love!
04 Getting Your Photos
After your photo session, I’ll personally go through the photos, sort them and edit them to my natural light, classic editing style. While many photographers hire out the sorting and editing process, I believe there is value in being involved and connected to the whole process. I enjoy working with each photo and reliving the session fun as I work on them.
Within 3 weeks of your session, you will receive all the edited photos in an online gallery for you to view. I’ll send this by email as well as send a text to make sure you see it. My recommendation is that you sit down together as a family to view it all together for the first time. This is always fun to do!
