Finding out you’re expecting is one of the most exciting moments and the beginning of your parenthood journey. If you’re like me, your mind immediately starts thinking through a thousand ideas of how to share the news. Years ago, when we were hoping and praying for a positive test, I spent so much time thinking about how we would announce it.

And goodness are there so many fun ways to share your pregnancy—from tiny onesies and custom mugs to surprise gift boxes or creative flat lays.

But one of my very favorite ways? A pregnancy announcement photo session. (Shocker, right? 🙂)

A few years back, when we found out we were expecting our second, we had a big international trip planned right at the end of my first trimester. Just before we left, we snapped a photo with four passports and told our family we were so excited for all four of us to be traveling. It was such a fun way to tie our life and news together—and it still makes me smile thinking about how surprised everyone was.

Tying your announcement to a memory or something meaningful to your family makes it that much sweeter. Whether it’s your first baby or your third, there are beautiful ways to mark the beginning of a new chapter.

Pregnancy Announcement Photos at Myriad Gardens Crystal Bridge

A great spot for pregnancy announcement photos in OKC is the Crystal Bridge at Myriad Gardens. The lush greenery, soft natural light, and variety of settings make it feel almost magical. Since it’s an indoor conservatory, it works wonderfully in the winter months.

When should you book your pregnancy announcement session?

Most couples book their pregnancy announcement photo session around 8–12 weeks, once they’ve had their first appointment and feel ready to share the news. Some wait a little longer, especially if they want to show a little baby bump or pair it with a fun announcement.

Other couples go ahead and schedule the session for around 8 weeks but hold off on sharing the photos publicly until the 16–18 week mark. And yet still others like to plan their session right around 20 weeks, when they may also be finding out the baby’s gender and want to include a gender reveal twist in the photos.I will always recommend to reach out as soon as you can and then we can tentatively plan a session for when you are ready. And I am quite good at keeping secrets so your surprise is safe with me until you wish to share.
