5 Reasons why you should Book your Oklahoma City Fall Portraits Early.

Posted by Charis Elisabeth

It can seem like our to do list never ends. Right moms? I know full well how many balls it seems we have to be juggling in life. And sometimes you can get all the way through fall before you remember to get those photos booked (as a mom and family photographer I am way too guilty of this too!)

So my solid recommendation is always – book your Oklahoma City fall portraits in the summer and here is why!

There’s only so many photo sessions openings.

I’m a mom too, which means family time is a top priority. Each fall I only take a limited number of sessions, especially on weekends, so they go quickly. My shorter sessions are very popular with past clients, but I can only offer so many sessions in order to get them edited and back to in a timely manner without TOO many late nights or missed family activities. Families who know how fast these spots go usually plan ahead and grab their date early.

Why Prime Time Slots Fill Up First

Evening golden hour sessions are always the first to book. Early planning gives you access to the most beautiful light and locations. I choose spots based on how they look that year and try to offer variety so families can have different backdrops in their galleries. Weekend dates always disappear first, so booking early means you’ll have more choices.

Your Holiday Cards Deserve More Than a Rush Job

Waiting too long means cutting it close delivery of your photos which means cutting it close for holiday cards and gifts. When you book early, your gallery is delivered with plenty of time to design cards, get them addressed, and even catch the best sales before the holiday rush. As well as making those photo books or prints that make perfect grandparent gifts.

Plan Your Photo Session During Summer Calm before the fall chaos

Once school, sports, and fall events start, everyone’s schedule gets packed. Booking ahead keeps photo day from being just another stressful thing squeezed into your calendar. It also gives you time to prepare outfits and feel ready for your session. I highly recommend July and August for booking your fall portraits.

Consider Oklahoma’s Fall Foliage Timeline

Leaves in Oklahoma usually peak in early November, but the window is short—sometimes just a few days. Wind and weather often cut it even shorter. That’s why I recommend choosing your session date based on availability and location rather than holding out for peak leaves. There’s lots lovely locations around and here in Oklahoma once colder weather arrives so does the WIND which is not fun for family photos. The later in the fall you wait the more likely you will have to do a reschedule or have crummy weather.

And extra bonus…eliminate some of that fall stress.

When you book in the summer, think of early booking as a gift to yourself. It’s one less thing on your plate when fall gets busy, and it makes the whole experience more enjoyable.
