Welcoming a new baby into your family is a time full of wonder, excitement and a tiny bit of disbelief at this beautiful new miracle. I am excited to share an in home Yukon newborn photo session I recently did for this sweet family. I’ve gotten the privilege of following their journey for this precious miracle that came into their lives from their pregnancy announcement session to maternity to now their newborn session.

When families invite me into their homes to showcase their beautiful newborn story, I am honored. Newborn photography sessions are a time of setting those early emotions of excitement, wonder and joy into images that can be cherished for generations.

One of the questions that comes up with new families is “what if my baby doesn’t sleep during the session?” This sweet session was a perfect example of how in home newborn sessions give plenty of time so that baby can be awake and asleep. For lifestyle baby photos a baby doesn’t not have to be asleep but as a professional photographer (and a mom with children of my own) I have several tips that I use so we often do have baby asleep.

are also about getting those little in between moments photographed – like nursing or a feeding, dressing the baby etc. I want you to see the loveliness in the normal everyday things you are doing to care for and love on your child!

One of the best ways to make your newborn session go smooth is to sit back, relax and let go of expectations. When you can do that as a new parent all of the family will relax. Since our little ones do feed off our own energy when we as parents can relax our little ones can too.

During an at home newborn session you get to pause and breathe in this beautiful time. I work hard by prepping parents before and during the session to give you a guidance and reassurance so you can get beautiful photos that also feel natural. You don’t have to worry about, “does this look right” as I am there to help. I’m not going to just say “oh do your thing” because I know that a calm direction will help everyone enjoy the session more.
