Late fall in Oklahoma City is a lovely time for family photos. Golden hour mixes with the changing colors of the trees making for stunning locations. And as long as you can avoid the windy days, it’s just about perfect weather. OKC Bricktown provides the perfect mix of urban charm, vibrant colors, and historic character.
I was delighted when this returning client family choose Bricktown as their family photo session location. It was a lovely session and filled with warmth, laughter, and the golden hues of autumn, all set against Oklahoma City’s iconic Bricktown as a backdrop.
Why I Provide Location Guidance for Clients
Supporting clients in choosing a location is an important piece of the support I provide for my families. There are several different factors to consider in getting the perfect location for your family photos. If you are a young family making sure it’s a safe area (no water or roads to run into), if you need wheelchair access those are other factors to consider. The number one biggest part is, is your location wish one where I can have good light and get photos you can love. Why Bricktown Is a Great Spot for Family Photos
Bricktown is one of OKC’s most dynamic districts, known for its blend of history, entertainment, and beautiful cityscapes. The red brick streets, waterfront views along the canal, and colorful murals make it an ideal setting for family sessions. I will say if you want photos by the canal it’s not the best location for running toddlers, but other than that it’s a lovely spot. You can get variety, hang out and have fun all in a short period of time.
Things to Do in Bricktown Before or After Your Photo Session
If you’re planning a family session in Bricktown, here are some great ways to enjoy the area before or after your photoshoot:
- Walk Along the Bricktown Canal and visit a few of the local shops.
- Visit the Land Run Memorial – the pathways around this park are a great way to get some energy run off.
- Grab a Bite at a Family-Friendly Restaurant – Places like The Melting Pot or Fuzzy’s Taco Shop offer great options for all ages.
- Play Mini Golf together
A Relaxed and Playful Fall Photo Session
For this family photo session, we kept things light and playful—lots of giggles, hugs, and natural moments. Since this was mid November, the Christmas Tree had just been set up, making it a great way to mix in holiday charm and fall beauty.
A few Tips for a Stress-Free Bricktown Family Photo Session
- Pick the Right Time of Day – Early morning or golden hour provides the best light.
- Dress for the Season – Layers, warm tones, and cozy textures look beautiful in fall photos.
- Make It an Experience – plan to grab ice cream or dinner after the session or even take a ride in the water taxi.
