Precious Cargo

Specialization: Clothing, Accessories and Toys – Newborn to 4T.

Location: Pink Container on 9th Street – 14 NW 9th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73102

Precious Cargo is focused on a curated collection of clothing accessories and toys for littles from newborn to 4T. They are made up of a team of mothers, grandmothers, and aunts, who understand what it is like raising little ones. They know the products that work well for certain ages or features that help make new parent’s lives a little bit easier and use that expertise to bring parents in OKC the best they can. They carry a wide selection of brands (Me and Henry, Little Me, Angel Dear, Tender Leaf, and Bunnies by the Bay to name a few) for little ones as one of the top OKC Baby Stores.

A fun special feature of the store is how they feature local children’s book authors inside Precious Cargo and host a number of popups featuring local makers.

I asked them to share a bit of the story behind how this store got started:

“Precious Cargo started off as a collection inside our women’s boutique, Cargo Room, back in April 2020. Not only had this been a dream of ours to include these types of items inside our boutique for many years, but we also had numerous customers requesting that we do so as well. We had ordered all of our products for our initial launch early in 2020, and as you know when Spring of 2020 arrived so did the effects of Covid. This caused our boutique to close its doors to the public for a number of weeks. Discouraged by this event, we decided to move forward with the launch of our Precious Cargo Collection, but instead of in-stores, we did it online.

We still refer to Precious Cargo as our saving grace during that time of such uncertainty. We all had to face a reality where baby showers, birthday parties, and family get togethers were canceled; however, people did not let that stop them from still showering their loved ones with gifts. Customers would place their orders, we would gift wrap the items and ship directly to the gift recipients.

During a time when people were no longer shopping for clothing items for themselves, having the ability to help them provide something for a loved one was very special.

Later, as we emerged back to a more normal state and our boutique was able to reopen our doors, we were able to then release our Precious Cargo collection in-stores. The popularity of the collection grew and some days our baby items would outsell our women’s selection.  In 2023, we had the opportunity to move our women’s boutique into a larger location. We decided that it was time for our Precious Cargo Collection to take on its own identity, turning our former location into the very first Precious Cargo storefront!

Our whole team loves working at Precious Cargobecause who doesn’t love getting to hang out with cute babies all day? We love getting to know our families, helping them prepare for special events such as first birthday or family photos. We also love helping find the perfect gift, wrapping them up, and being that one stop shop for our customers. A little slice of happiness in the community we love.”
