Adventuring at Lake Arcadia for Family Photos

Arcadia Lake is a very popular Oklahoma City location for family photos. The lake boasts a bunch of different locations and looks from wide open fields to lake front and red dirt beach fronts. Some spots are free and some have a $10 fee for entering. As it changes with the seasons it provides a beautiful setting for family photos. It can get quite crowded in the fall because of how popular it is.

One of the things I love is that for a full family photo session we can explore and move around in just one or two places and give a huge variety in your photos. From wooded backgrounds to the sun shining off the lake it can be delightful!

I was delighted to get ot serve this family again and see how much their children continue to grow and change each year. Returning clients definitely make my day and it’s was so fun getting to do their photos. As a Oklahoma City family photographer I love getting to capture the fun and connection amongst the family.

When families can move around, explore and have fun it brings out a lot of life and joy in their photos. Arcadia Lake is definitely a great location for a full session as you can do alot of different things. Run through a field, splash in the water, watch the sunset and more! As the family photographer, I love how clients can play and laugh with their children here.

• Choose a golden hour session (morning or evening) so you can add that beautiful golden light to the background
• Dress for the Location – because there’s a lot of red dirt avoid too much dark red or neon colors. Consider also the season: spring will be lots of greens of various colors so think of what compliments on the color wheel, fall and winter has lots of brown, golden grass.
• Relax and let go of expectations – the best authentic family photos come from families that are not stressing over getting the perfect photos. Lake Arcadia’s diverse landscape allows for lots of adventure and fun!
• Bring bug spray – sadly as in most of Oklahoma nature there are a variety of bugs so make sure to spray before going on your family photography adventure and double check for ticks afterwards.
